Mount Buller rises to 1,805 meters and is the closest major mountain to Melbourne (taking around three hours by car) and a popular alpine skiing location. On the mountain slopes is the Mount Buller Alpine Resort and township which caters not only for people coming for the day, but longer holiday stays as well.
Open during winter and summer months, the Mount Buller township offers around 7,000 beds for skiers or those who wish to enjoy the mountain in the non-snow months. The skiing area has a number of beginner slopes and skiing or snowboarding lessons for all ages. There are also intermediate and advanced slopes and the resort offers racing slopes and racing training for groups wanting to partake.
During summer the mountain can be explored by horse back or mountain bike, as well as many bush walking trails.
