National Rhododendron Gardens

  • by

One of the highlights of any trip to the Dandenong Ranges is the National Rhododendron Gardens at Olinda.  Spectacular in spring but beautiful in any season, the gardens displays rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, cherries, daffodils, liliums and more recently a Japanese Garden of rows of cherry blossom trees.

The gardens are open from 10am to 5pm daily with the exception of Christmas Day and Good Friday.  A gift shop, kiosk and picnic facilities are available.

The lower lake and rotunda. Set amongst towering mountain ash trees, the gardens take one along several pathways not only of flowers but many different types of trees and rare plants, such as conifers, magnolias, dogwoods, oaks, beeches, Japanese maples, proteas and leucodendrons.
